Who is it for?
Play therapy is generally employed with children aged 3 - 14 years
It can be used to alleviate mile, one off emotional or psychological problems that are preventing the child from achieving their full potential
It may be suitable for children who have experienced emotional pain and distress caused by abuse, trauma, neglect, domestic violence, family breakdown or bereavement.
How does it work?
A safe environment is created which allows the child to play with as few limits as possible, but as many as necessary to ensure safety
A variety of techniques are used according to the needs of the child, including music, dance and movement, creative art, sand, puppets and role play.
Children are supported to explore their emotional experiences and feelings at an intra-personal level, and so develop the capacity for enhanced emotional self-regulation
